Just wanted to say, that this song is seriously growing on me. All
the things I said in my review still stand and what didn't work, still
isn't. This song however, is becoming one of my new favorites.

thanks.

The only song on Backspacer I'm having a hard time with is "Johnny
Guitar". Not sure why, it's not a bad song. Just something about the
vocals cadence that doesn't do it for me.

Me too, Johnny Geetar is my only skipper, not feeling it.
I like the album but dont love it, it needs more Mike Mccready. Not
crazy about this new "happy" and "mature" pearl jam sound, i hope
they find something to be pissed off about for their next album.

Force Of Nature is my fav, classic PJ song, that outro is awesome

hey, who is the force of nature in this song...I mean Eddie tells us
in the beginning the "she" is the force of Nature. however, it seems
pretty clear to me that the guy standing on the beach in the Hurricane
is actually the "force of Nature"

Anyone???

I guess it could be about both of them - him and her - the force of
nature that pulls us in self-destructive ways and the force of nature
that inspires us to love and hope and wait.

I think it's the woman he's waiting for. Or the love he has for her.
Or both. Maybe she is such a force of nature, she inspires him to wait
during storms, etc for her.

I about half agree with Dawn that the Force of Nature is the force
that pulls these two together. I was once trying to be in a
relationship that was "A Force of Nature" and it made me want to stand
in storms and do whatever it took make it work. However, as I have
found out that a person that you really love won't ask you to those
things, even though you would for them.

I dunno, it's pretty specific that the force of nature is the woman, and
she is the one who controlled and let go, and the man is the one
waiting, not standing a chance against her, wonderland pulling him into
the hole, no way to save one who won't take the rope.

Sounds like you did take the rope... ;)

a drug addiction could also be the woman. artists often personify drugs
as female.

On the drug thing....Were members of PJ ever involved with heavy drug
use? I know EV likes to drink, but I never really heard (or sought
out) information regarding them having cocaine, heroin, etc. habits.
Have they been pretty much straight-shooters. They never did seem to
be the type that would get into that.
