anyone see PJ at any festivals yet? Ed and the boys doing anything
different than before the "incident"? I've never seen them in a GA
setting...so not really sure if there's anything anyone can
do .......just wondering if they're being a bit more "cautious" or
doing anything to reduce the risk of another incident.

What could they do? The first one wasn't their fault. I'm sure they
work with festival organizers to make sure things are secure and
organized, but that's the most they can do. I never saw them at a
festival before Roskilde, but I didn't notice anything out of the
ordinary when I saw them at one a few years ago.

I saw them play in Calgary at the Virgin Music Festival a few weeks ago.
Eddie did pause a few times and make sure everyone was ok, even
repeating himself until he got a response from the crowd. I guess thats
about all he could do.

Then again it was a smaller festival.. maybe 19000 people.

At larger festivals, I think they should put in a fence at some point
before the stage. That way at a giant festival.. 30-50k, you don't have
that many people surging forward at the stage. The fence would
alleviate some pressure one those in the front.

It can get dangerous. Everyone wants to be in the front. Not breaking
the crowd up, and having that many people press forward is bad.

At GA shows, they have a t-shaped barrier, with the barrier going down
into the middle. It effectively splits the crowd into two, and there
isn't so much pressure on the middle front. It seems to work well.

They didn't use this in Manchester or London on the floor, and at one
point in Berlin, I think, and in London, he asked the crowd to take 3
steps backwards... and they did! It was beautiful to watch it from the
side where I was!

They seem to like the energy, and lots of people like GA because they
can get to the front, but it's not for me... I just passed on seeing
them in SF at the festival, even though I was 30 miles away.
